Alexander Clinic was established in 1948 and was one of the founding fathers of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. The main office has been located in Abilene since 1957. Dr. Alexander joined his father at the clinic in 1989 and has expanded the clinic to have offices in Enid, Oklahoma (est. 1989), Stephenville, TX (est. 2012) and Granbury, TX (est. 2014). Our professionally-trained staff is happy to welcome you to our practice. You can learn about our doctor and other staff members on the pages of this website. You'll also find our office hours and other important information and services provided.
We provide a complete health and nurtition inventory, laboratory evaluation and personalized counseling of behavioral, nutritional, and exercise needs. We do not advocate fad diets, but rather food that is good for you and anyone that eats with you. You do not have to buy special food to be on our program. In fact, through our unique UN-diet we provide a plan of caloric restriction through simple portion control. Joining a gym or utilization of a personal trainer is not required, but it may be useful to speed you along your way more quickly. Exercise may be obtained by simple non-aerobic exercises such as walking, swimming, riding a bicycle, weight training, yoga, or pilates.
Prescriptive medications and lipotropic injections are used as tools to assist you in appetite control, energy production, mental focus and weight loss. They should not be seen as a "magic bullets", but rather as aides. The medications prescribed are all FDA approved and tailored to the individual needs of each patient. At each visit you will be issued a new prescription that you may then take to the pharmacy of your choice. It is important to stay in communication with the clinic while you are under our care. Alterations of medications may take place during the month, not just at routine office visits. Although side-effects may briefly occur with any medication, we can advise you about how to minimize them if they do occur by contacting us by phone or email. In compliance with state and federal regulations, all prescriptions are transmitted directly to your pharmacy electronically. Paper prescriptions are not provided.
